Fancy Pants

photography by Jaimie Sweeten

Sunglasses: Ray- Ban, Necklace: Spike the Punch, Sweatshirt: F21, Faux Fur Vest: Laural E, Sequin Leggings: Caiston Elle, Boots: Steve Madden (borrowed) via TJ MAXX (similar here, and LOVE these)

How cute are these boots? I love how the zippers curve! I was originally wearing my suede booties and these over the knee boots were on my photographer when I said "Hey! Give me your boots!'' haha

I think they really pulled the whole outfit together, don't you agree?

I bought this sweatshirt at F21 a couple of weeks ago for many reasons. I loved the light blue color, its extremely soft and comfy, and it was like $10.00 or something crazy cheap like that. That same
day, a local boutique posted these cream sequin leggings on Instagram, and since I already own the Navy ones (last seen here), it was a no-brainer that I scoop these up as well!

I love the idea of styling something simple (sweatshirt, t-shirt) with something more intricate (sequin pants!). Add a faux fur vest for a more layered look, a flashy necklace to play off of the sweatshirt, and an over the knee boot for a more casual look and BAM! An outfit is born!

Lumberjack

Happy Monday, y'all! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I enjoyed a relaxing one! On Friday, I started refinishing a desk for my home office. Y'all remember a few years ago when decoupage was all the rage? Yea, not so much anymore. Needless to say, it got removed and repainted. On Saturday, the man friend and I layed around being lazy. He watched the Bass Master Tournament all day, which made me want to go play in traffic, but I opted for online retail therapy instead. I figured that was safer. For my well being, not my bank account. After I agreed to an evening trip to Bass Pro Shop (can you tell he's a tournament fisherman yet?) I gained control of the remote. Fair trade? Yes, but only because a lot of those professional fisherman boys were pretty damn easy on the eyes.

On to my outfit.

I first wore this dress with my leopard print booties (last seen here) at my Christmas Cocktail party, which is how I initially had planned to style it for this post.  I loved the way the leopard played up the plaid.

When I went to pull it from my closet, it happened to be hanging next to my favorite leopard print vest! This was my "Ah-Ha" moment! I love the way they look styled closer together, with a heavier leopard print. Leopard and plaid play well together. If you disagree, you're wrong;)

Winter White

photography by Jaimie Sweeten

Sunglasses: Ray- Ban, Lipstick:  Stila Fiore, Sweater: Old Navy (not available online, but similar), Jeans: Calla Lilies (old, no longer available, similar here by Old Navy), Heels: Nine West (On Sale!!!), Bracelet: Millie Rae (no longer available)

White after Labor Day. To talk about that would be a waste of a blog post, cyber space, and time.

Allow me to elaborate:

Ever heard of Dumb Laws? It's almost as good as People of Walmart!

"It is perfectly legal to beat your wife on the courthouse steps on Sunday." - South Carolina

"A recently passed anticrime law requires criminals to give their victims 24 hours notice, either orally or in writing, and explain the nature of the crime to be committed"- Texas

"Boogers may not be flicked into the wind"- Alabama

While "No white after Labor Day" isn't covered under either of these sites, if you ask my personal opinion (and I know you did:), it damn well should be.

There isn't anything more streamlined, cleaner, or effortless than white. Think of it as your new "Little Black Dress".

No matter the season or holiday it follows, combine different shades of white, add a focal point, (in this case, I used a leopard heel) and because every outfit deserves a little something extra, add an eccentric handbag or piece of jewelry to bring it all together.

Cupcake

photography by Jaimie Sweeten

Sunglasses: Ray- Ban, Baseball Tee: AEO (last seen here), Skirt: Express, Heels: Zara (old, but I'm obsessing over these and these), Lips: Stila Fiore

Ever have one of those " AH HA! That's it!" moments? Those seem to be the only ones I have anymore. I stay so busy here lately trying to find a balance between work, mommy duties, and trying to find time for a personal life and adult conversation that my brain seems to have the inconsistency of the Alabama weather.

Which brings me to discuss two things: this striped baseball tee and this "cupcake" skirt.

I've told y'all why you need this striped tee in your life, but if you're a new follower, I'll cut 'ya some slack and tell 'ya again. It's soft, comfy, versatile, and plays well with florals, solids, and polka dots.

This skirt. It reminded me of when AC used to do pageants. It's full, flirty, and sassy. Makes me think of a cupcake (glitz pageant dress skirts are called cupcake skirts), so clearly I needed it in my life!

I tried this skirt on 3 different times, in 3 different weeks, at 3 different Express stores before I purchased it, and that doesn't include the online stalking I did.  Why? I'm 5' tall, I've never been able to pull off anything high wasted or full.  I had it in my head that I could make it work (OK, I was determined to make it work), so I bought it and immediately ripped the tags off so that there was no going back.

The result?

A temper tantrum because "I have nothing to wear!" + a simple striped tee+ a cupcake skirt + a fabulous shoe= My "AH HA! That's it!" moment.

Clearly, I panicked for no reason, as my high-strung self always does.

Valentine's Day

photography by Jaimie Sweeten

Sunglasses: Ray- Ban, Dress: Forever21 (available in store, less than $30.00!!), Lips: Stila Fiore, Bracelet: Millie Rae (no longer available), Heels: Shoe Mint (similar here)

Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!!!

This Valentine's Day was a little different for me because I actually had a Valentine, and he's pretty amazing!!! He sent beautiful flowers, got me an awesome pair of leopard print Nike's that I've been wanting for two years now, and took my daughter and I to lunch and dinner. He even got her Valentine's gifts, too!

Now I am fully aware that gifts are just material forms of affection, that time spent is what matters, and that man really gets his hours in with she and I! He puts up with my brattiness and random fit-pitching, and fully supports my blog and my "crazy outfits".

I could go on and on, but pretty sure I'll have way more to brag on him about in the future:)

Brights

photography by Jaimie Sweeten

Sunglasses: Ray- Ban, Oxford: Ralph Lauren via Belk Kids (available in store, I am wearing a boys large), Cardigan: Rivertrail Mercantile, Jeans: Old Navy, Booties: Jessica Simpson (similar here by Sole Society and on SALE!!!)

Oh the Winter Blues. I'm pretty sure I've complained about the cold in every post I've written since October. And I will continue to complain about it until April. If I have to be cold, I better be sitting on a gorgeous wrap around porch, by a fire pit, sipping coffee (and by coffee I mean Chardonnay), looking at two feet of snow, wrapped up in a cashmere blanket with my man friend, in Colorado.

My attempt to beat the Winter Blues is to turn them into Winter Pinks. Bright pinks. Just because the weather is dreary doesn't mean your outfit has to be!

I saw this cardigan and knew I had to give it a new home! It's just too girly and bright to be spending its time in a warehouse! Once I got it, I immediately knew how I wanted to style it. No drab white shirt for me, I went on the hunt for an aqua colored gingham oxford, and much to my dismay, NOTHING!!! After scouring the Internet for days, I got the bright idea to try Belk Kids at my local mall. I knew they kept good stock of Ralph Lauren in the boys department, and I couldn't have gotten any luckier with this find! It has EVERY COLOR of my cardigan in it! Best part? Only $45.00!!!

What would have made this outfit even better? If I wouldn't have forgotten my leopard calf hair belt!

" Create what sets your heart on fire and it will illuminate the path ahead."

Sunday's Best

Sunglasses: Ray- Ban, Lips: Stila Fiore, Sweater: AEO (similar here, last seen here), Skirt: F21 (similar here), Tights: DKNY, Heels: Jessica Simpson

Sunday mornings can be a real pain around my house. A fight is sure to happen when trying to get AC dressed. All she wants to wear (EVERYDAY) is jeans and a tshirt. If she didn't look like my twin, I would demand a paternity test, because for sure she was switched at birth. I'm the girly-girl raising the tom boy. I'm forever repeating "AC! We wear dresses for Jesus!"

It doesn't work, so I usually give up and wrestle her into some ruffle bottom pants and a monogram top. Happy medium? Sometimes you have to pick your battles.

After the hour of child-wrangling is complete, this leaves me roughly 30 minutes to get dressed and out the door. Insert sweater, skirt, and tights. Easy-peasy.
